Department of Shalya Tantra
Shalya Tantra is a specialized branch of Ayurveda focusing on surgical and parasurgical procedures and treatments. The out-patient department with 40 bedded inpatient unit encompasses various aspects, including the management of Anorectal diseases, Vascular diseases, Hernia, Appendicitis, Non healing ulcers, Breast lumps, Cysts, Renal calculi, Fractures, other major & minor surgical interventions and Marma therapy. It deals with strategies for managing pain and promoting healing. The department is crucial in traditional Indian medicine for addressing complex health issues that require invasive methods, combining ancient practices with contemporary techniques to provide comprehensive care. Parasurgical procedures are treatments that complement traditional surgical methods and are aimed at enhancing recovery and managing conditions that might not require full surgery, or addressing issues in a non-invasive manner. It includes Ksharakarma, Ksharasutra therapy, Raktamokshana & Agnikarma.
The department is committed to delivering exceptional academic and clinical training across undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctor of philosophy programmes. Recognizing the importance of each individual’s contribution, the department is committed to serving both students and patients with dedication, striving to improve lives and create a better future. Postgraduate studies in this department began in 2010, with a Ph.D course introduced in 2019.

Encouraging the students & faculty to practice classical surgical techniques with integrative teaching & by conducting hands on training programmes.
To establish a Pain clinic for the various musculoskeletal diseases through Agni Karma & Marma therapy.
To establish the practice of Jaloukavacharana in Peripheral Vascular diseases & to treat chronic non healing Ulcers.
To offer cutting-edge educational programs at the PG and Ph.D. levels, as well as knowledge dissemination initiatives for faculty and practitioners.
